Watch Repair for Reno — Thirty Minutes Up the Mountain

Same-day batteries, pressure testing, bracelet work and full movement service at Forever Rox Fine Jewelry in Incline Village. Free estimates, no mail-in box, no mystery pricing.

Your Watch Deserves a Bench, Not a Shipping Label

There is a particular kind of frustration that comes with handing over a watch you care about and hearing nothing for six weeks. The piece disappears into a mailer, travels somewhere you cannot picture, and comes back — eventually — with an invoice you had no say in. For a Timex that is an inconvenience. For a Submariner your father wore, or the Cartier you bought yourself when the deal finally closed, it is genuinely unsettling.

Forever Rox Fine Jewelry works the other way around. You hand the watch to a person, that person looks at it in front of you, and you leave knowing what is wrong and what it will cost. A great many of our watch clients drive over from Reno, Sparks and Carson City for exactly that reason — not because Reno lacks options, but because they wanted to look someone in the eye about a watch that matters to them.

What We Handle

Some of this happens while you stand at the counter. Some of it goes to the certified watchmaking partners we have worked with for years — the people trusted with millions of dollars of luxury timepieces. Either way, the diagnosis and the estimate come from us, directly, before anything is touched.

Watch Services at Forever Rox

Battery replacement and resealing — Fresh cell, fresh gasket, case back correctly torqued. Most are finished while you wait.
Water-resistance pressure testing — The step most shops skip after a battery change, and the reason so many watches quietly fog up two months later.
Bracelet sizing, links, spring bars and screws — Including the fiddly bracelet work on integrated luxury cases that a mall kiosk will not attempt.
Crystal, crown, dial and hand replacement — Scratched sapphire, a crown that no longer screws down properly, a hand that has come loose in transit.
Mechanical and quartz movement service — Full disassembly, cleaning, lubrication, regulation and reassembly for watches that are running fast, slow, or not at all.
Polishing and cosmetic restoration — Carefully, and only as far as you want it taken. On a vintage piece we will usually advise you to stop short.
Vintage and inherited watch evaluation — Free assessment of what it is, what it needs, and whether the work is worth doing.

The Battery Job Nobody Does Properly

A watch battery is a five-minute job and almost every shop in Northern Nevada will do it. The difference sits in what happens after the cell goes in.

Opening a case back breaks a seal. Put the back on without replacing the gasket and the watch is no longer water resistant, regardless of what the dial says — and you will not find out until steam from a shower or a hand washed too enthusiastically leaves condensation under the crystal. By then the moisture is already in contact with the movement.

We replace the gasket every time and pressure test on request, so the rating printed on your case back still means something when you walk out. It is a small thing. It is also the single most common way an otherwise healthy watch gets quietly destroyed.

Bring It In, Watch It Happen

Batteries, bracelet sizing and pressure testing are done in-store, usually the same visit. You do not leave your watch behind and you do not wait on a shipping notification.

Rolex, Omega and Luxury Movement Work

We regularly service the brands people are most nervous about handing over. Forever Rox is an independent workshop rather than a brand-authorized service centre, and it is worth being clear about what that means, because it cuts both ways.

An authorized centre routes your watch through the manufacturer's own queue. That has advantages — factory parts, factory documentation — and it has costs, chiefly time and a fixed price you do not negotiate. Independent servicing means your estimate comes from the person who examined the watch, the timeframe is usually considerably shorter, and you keep a say in how far the work goes. For a modern Rolex still under manufacturer warranty, authorized service is generally the right call and we will tell you so. For nearly everything else, and certainly for vintage, the independent route serves you better.

When a Watch Is Worth Servicing — and When It Isn't

Not every watch should be repaired, and we would rather tell you that at the counter than after you have paid for it. Three situations come up again and again with clients driving over from Reno.

The inherited quartz watch. A grandfather's dress watch with a dead battery is usually a twenty-minute job and an easy yes. But if moisture has already reached the movement, a replacement movement can cost more than the watch is worth on the open market — and still be entirely worth doing, because the case, dial and hands are the parts that carry the memory. That is your call to make, and we will give you the numbers to make it with.

The watch that runs fast. Before assuming the worst, it is often magnetism, which is quick and inexpensive to correct. A movement that is genuinely worn is a different conversation. We check the cheap explanation first.

The vintage piece someone wants polished. This is where we most often advise doing less. Aggressive polishing rounds the sharp case lines that give a vintage watch its value, and a refinished dial can take a serious percentage off what a collector will pay. If you are considering selling rather than keeping, our appraisal and buying service is the better first stop, and the Watch Report covers how specific references are valued in more depth.

If your visit also involves a ring, chain or clasp that needs attention, our jewelry repair bench is in the same room — most clients bring both up in one trip.

The Drive from Reno

The Mt. Rose Highway leaves South Reno and drops into Incline Village in about half an hour. From ArrowCreek, Galena Forest, Montreux, St. James's Village or Damonte Ranch it is a shorter trip than crossing town in traffic — and considerably more pleasant, since the road climbs past Mt. Rose and opens onto the lake on the way down.

We are in the Village Center on Tahoe Boulevard, with free parking directly outside. Most Reno clients combine the trip with lunch or a walk on the beach and treat the whole thing as a morning rather than an errand.

Between Services

A few habits keep a watch out of the workshop longer.

Service on Schedule

A mechanical watch wants a full service roughly every five to seven years. Waiting until it stops usually means a larger bill.

💧

Screw the Crown Down

An unscrewed crown is the most common cause of water damage. Check it after every adjustment.

🧲

Mind Magnets

Laptops, speakers and phone cases magnetize a movement and send it running fast. It is a quick fix if caught early.

🏔️

Rinse After the Lake

Fresh water and a soft cloth after a day on Tahoe. Sunscreen and grit work their way into a bracelet faster than you would think.

Frequently Asked Questions

How far is Forever Rox from Reno?
About 30 minutes from South Reno and roughly 45 from downtown, straight up the Mt. Rose Highway (NV-431). If you live near ArrowCreek, Galena, Montreux or St. James's Village, you are closer to our bench than you are to most of downtown Reno.
Can I get a watch battery replaced the same day?
Yes. Most battery changes are done while you wait, and that includes resealing the case back with a fresh gasket. Bring the watch in during opening hours and you will normally leave with it running.
Do you service Rolex, Omega and other luxury watches?
Yes. We regularly handle Rolex, Omega, Cartier, Patek Philippe, Tag Heuer, Breitling, Tudor, Seiko and many others. We are an independent workshop rather than a brand-authorized service centre, which is why our turnaround is usually shorter and our estimates are given directly to you rather than through a manufacturer queue.
What does watch repair cost?
Every repair begins with a free evaluation and a written estimate. You will always know the price before any work starts, and nothing proceeds without your approval.
How long does a full movement service take?
Simple work such as batteries, bracelet sizing and pressure testing is done in-store, often the same day. Full movement service and restoration work goes to our certified watchmaking partners and takes longer; we give you a timeframe with your estimate rather than a vague promise.
Do I need an appointment, or can I drive over and walk in?
Walk-ins are welcome. If you are making the drive from Reno specifically, call ahead on (775) 831-4544 so we can confirm someone is free to look at your watch the moment you arrive.
Is there parking?
Yes, free surface parking directly outside the building at 930 Tahoe Blvd. No garage, no meters, no circling the block.
Can you look at an inherited or vintage watch that has not run in years?
Bring it in. We evaluate vintage and inherited pieces at no charge and tell you honestly what it would take to get it running, what it is worth having done, and when a watch is better left original than over-restored.

Bring Us the Watch

Free evaluation, honest estimate, and a person who will actually talk you through it. Thirty minutes from South Reno — worth the drive for a watch you care about.
