INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. — A landmark of the Incline Village small-business landscape is altering the look and name of its enterprise, but the individuals who run the jewelry store remain the same.

“Forever Rox: A Hub for Fine Jewelry” is the new name for the business formerly know as “Hub Bros. Jewelry.” which as been a mainstay in Incline Village for 27 years.

The new name reflects the evolution of a partnership between John Hub, who bought the business from his brother six years ago, and John Roxburgh, who has been a partner in the business as its jeweler for the past six years. Roxburgh’s wife, Rebecca, also recently joined the business as a part owner.

The physical store has also received a renovation, as the black carpet and drably painted walls are no longer, and have been replaced by a sleeker look meant to reflect the elegance of the wares for sale.

“When you are buying a piece from this store, you want it to make you feel incredible,” said Roxburgh. “We want you to be in a store that makes you feel that way.”

Hub and Roxburgh both emphasize they treat all customers the same, whether they intend on spending $100 or $10,000.

“Incline Village deserves fine and fashionable jewelry,” Hub said. “Here you get all the selection and services you find in a big city like San Francisco or New York City, but with better customer service.”

Hub said he is able to offer customers advantageous price points due to his practice of buying out stores or estates that are liquidating inventory.

“We have incredible items, incredible sales,” Roxburgh said. “Our inventory is impeccable.”

However, selling ready-made jewelry is just one facet of the business, as repair, custom-made jewelry and purchase of unwanted jewelry makes up a substantial part of the business.

“It’s something we’ve seen recently, but people come in with five things they no longer wear, and out of it we’re able to devise this incredible custom piece,” Roxburgh said.

Hub said doing business locally since 1984 has helped established the store’s reputation for quality and honesty.

“People will not leave their grandma’s wedding ring with just anybody for repair,” Roxburgh said.

Hub said the store’s sterling reputation has buoyed the business through the economic turbulence of recent years.

“We’ve felt the economic pinch — everybody in town has,” Hub said. “But having a good reputation has sustained us. We’ve been proud to serve Incline for the past 30 years and look forward to providing the same quality service for the next 30 years.

“Being in this town for this long helps clients and customers trust you.”

— If you know of a local business that is new to the Incline Village community or one that’s been here for years and has a great story to tell, and you’d like it considered for an upcoming Meet Your Merchant feature, contact Bonanza editor Kevin MacMillan at kmacmillan@tahoebonanza.com.

On behalf of your Red White and Tahoe Blue Board “Festival Team” and our community, I’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you. Due to your generosity, our 5th Anniversary was an extraordinary success! Please let me share with you a few details and highlights from our 2011 Red, White and Tahoe Blue Festival:

• Added six new events in a 5-day Celebration of Americas Independence

• Secured over 400 individual donors and sponsors who collectively raised over $96,000

• Reduced operating expenses for the past five years from over $200k in 2007; $190k in 2008; $90k in 2009; $89k in 2010; to less than $85k in 2011

• Coordinated 450+ spirited volunteers who donated their time and energy

• Expanded non-profit participation from three organizations to over 45 who earned revenue in supporting, staffing, and operating these events (Duck Race, Wine & Cheese, Beer & Brats, Community Fair, Street Dance, Carnival, Barbecue, Chili Cook Off, Firecracker Race, Breakfasts, etc resulting in over $30,000 of net proceeds.

• Enhanced our parade line-up with 40 entries who entertained approximately 5,000 people

• Collaborated with over 40 local non-profits who shared their educational insight and provided entertainment for all at the Community Fair on the Village Green

• Hosted a tribute to our Veterans with over 2500 people in attendance who honored our Veterans’ service to our country; extended the unforgettable US National Guard Demonstration to two days

• Celebrated the 4th of July in true fashion with a 35-minute Fireworks display that was arguably one of the most spectacular in the country. Wait to you see what we have in store for you in 2012!

It Takes a Community,
